2013.04.28 Cancer Awareness Programme, Arya Samaj Mandir, Near F & G Block, Sarita Vihar, New Delhi-76

A Cancer Awareness Programme cum-checkup camp of Indian Cancer Winners’ Association was organised by Mr. Vishesh Sharma & Mrs. Geetika Sharma members of I CAN WIN Association on 28th April 2013 at Arya Samaj Mandir, New Delhi.

Programme was started at about 11.00 am with the following V.I.Ps. Dr. Pawan Gupta, Sh. Suresh Prakash, Sh. R.K. Goel and Mrs. Ravi Kanta Ahuja (President of Arya Samaj ).

Programme was conducted by Mrs. Ravi Kanta Ahuja. Sh. Suresh Prakash introduced I CAN WIN Association, its aims & objectives. Dr. Pawan Gupta explained the sign & symptoms and precautions of oral, breast and cervix cancer for early detection and prompt treatment exhibiting on the screen through LCD projector. Dr. Pawan Gupta also given the idea of vaccination for prevention of Cervix Cancer.

Awareness programmes was attended by approx 100 persons. Everybody was admired with the educative programme about cancer, its prevention & symptoms for early detection which is curable.

Programme was continued till 1.00 pm. Coffee with snacks was served to Doctors & all participants followed by delicious lunch by honourable host Mr. & Mrs. Vishesh Sharma & others.

                                         

2013.04.07 Cancer Awareness Programme, at Green Valley, Sec-41, Faridabad

On the occasion of WORLD HEALTH DAY Indian Cancer Winners’ Association organised cancer awareness programme at Club House, Green Valley, Sec-41, Faridabad at 11.00 am to 1.00 pm. The programme was conducted by Dr. Pawan Gupta M.Ch., Onco Surgeon & President of I CAN WIN Association. Dr. Pawan Gupta gave detailed demonstration regarding the causes of cancer, its symptoms & how it can be treated & cured. He explained about mouth cancer, head & neck and breast cancer. Thereafter he explained in detail about the prostate cancer and stated that one should not be afraid from prostate cancer but due precaution should be taken. Approx. 30 local residents of Green Valley nearby attended the programme.  

Sri Suresh Prakash National Secretary told about I CAN WIN organisation, its aims & objective & modusoprandi. He also told that Cancer is curable provided detected & treated at an early stage. Our goal is to reduce the number of patients and mortality, on account of cancer by educating masses through its symptoms and early self detection & adopting correct life style. One should be careful not fearful. Be positive in life & think I CAN WIN.

Yoga and cancer-prevention

Cancer is a few cells of the body becoming unruly and revolting. These cells then incite other cells to join them, and not obey the body discipline. Additionally to hog all the resources quickly (glucose). Thus the Cancer spreads and starves the body of glucose.

My understanding is that we can prevent cancer and auto-immune diseases by taking care of each cell of the body, like a mother taking care of the child. An attitude of "vaatsalya", expression of mother-like love for each part of the body is essential Yoga.

For example when we do Yoga exercises of the neck, we close the eyes and bring our attention to the neck area, and slowly move the head sideways five times left and five times right, while breathing in harmony with the movements. This simple exercise tells the neck that it belongs!

That "it belongs" feeling makes the body-part happy. You are expressing the love of the body and mind for this specific part. It does not feel neglected and therefore has no urge to revolt or to go haywire, or shout and fight.

Doing these movements of body joints 'with awareness' and love and affection - smile on the face - is the essence of all Yoga. Strenuous or easy, yoga will achieve its purpose of harmonizing the mind-body complex.

So, let us start telling each part of the body that it belongs-----it is not in a state of neglect-----by doing Yoga, easy movements with love and affection, vaatsalya.

It is a great pleasure to inform the launch of the I CAN WIN GUJARAT Chapter. The Chapter is presided by none other than the father of oncology of Gujarat Dr Devendra D Patel. The other office bearers are:

The inauguration function took place at Ahmedabad Management Association, Ahmedabad.

The Gujarat State Chapter is supported by The Sterling group of  Hospital, CBCC and Calorx.

Many Cancer winners attended the function and shared their views on how they would carry out the programs to promote the cause of cancer survivors and to make them winners.

Indian Cancer Winners' Association - I CAN WIN is a platform came into existence to attempt to fulfill the large need of the cancer winners. It is created by the cancer winners, it is for the cancer winners and is run by the cancer winners.
